You’ve reached the personal blog of Dr John Wordsworth. I recently graduated with a PhD in Applied Mathematics at the University of Exeter. My thesis was entitled “Winnerless Competition in Neural Dynamics; Cluster Synchronisation of Coupled Oscillators”. You can read more about my PhD here or you can download my thesis from ERIC.
I have always had an interest in programming and find games a challenging and interesting field. On the one hand you are required to design something that looks fantastic, moves cleanly and sounds great. At the same time, you have to make sure it works on a variety of machines at a high frame-rate.
To this end, a friend and I setup a programming and development company based in Exeter, Devon in the United Kingdom. At Iron Star Media we lead a split life – developing software and web-applications at the same time as developing games for the Xbox and the iPhone markets. We’re new, and definitely still learning – but it’s a lot of fun.
